How can you most effective prepare for law university?

(I am assuming you might be just about to start laws school or are already a 1L.)

The shortest possible answer to this question is usually: focus on those activities that may help you most directly be smart on the final examination from day one. Simply focus on those activities.

OK, you say, a real simple answer, plus obvious to boot.

Although what does it mean to focus on the exam by day one? That, I believe, is not so classy and obvious. Almost everyone tells you to look at practice exams (often old exams by the professors who will be screening you) but only following the semester after you’ve done outlines. Although this is wrong. You’ll be ready by practicing giving answers to issue spotting tests every day for 20 to be able to 30 minutes. This is an unusual way of exam taking, nothing like anything you does in college, and you want to get used to it rapidly. Almost no one does train exams until the end on the semester, largely as they do not want to realize that they suck at this.
