Hans Ruedi Giger, stage name associated with Hans Rudolf Giger (Chur, 5 February 1940), is an artist, sculptor, designer, inspired by surrealism and symbolism, and artist in the field of special effects film, Switzerland. After many years working in neuro- scientific design and of ‘ illustration graphics, originality and emotional impact of his work has established, in collaboration along with Carlo Rambaldi, the representation from the creature for the giant screen star of Alien, in ‘ eponymous movie, which later earned him the an Oscar for greatest.
The father has a pharmacy and the artist passes years as a child, to his personal testimony peaceful and happy, in the workroom, often observing the actual flasks, containing liquids through some purely show strange colors, and prepared several leeches to ‘era nevertheless in medical use. One day the father received from the pharmaceutical company, a skull along with a human child, a child, I was fascinated. Over time, the boy created an attraction towards the bizarre and dismal, inspired by artists like Salvador Dali as well as Jean Cocteau. His mother Melli, while not fully understanding this specific passion of their son, did not quit to encourage him.

Growing up, Giger attends the school of industrial design and applied arts of Zurich. Here he matured his technical skill and precision in the definition of mechanised details. In the following years, he exhibited in a variety of exhibitions, also in Zurich, develops artistic tension that leads him to convey his skills while using best techniques in order to china and inks. Then switch in order to oil painting.

Many years later on, David Lynch directed the film, using only rough concepts by Giger. Giger had wished to work with Lynch, and he says that Lynch’s film Eraserhead was closer than even Giger’s own films to recognizing his vision. What an enhance, but I should admit that Lynch’s version of Dune bores me silly. Giger was even recruited by the front-man of Korn, Jonathon Davis, to design the microphone stand that the band toured with. I will admit it is pretty awesome! An amazing artist with an uncompromising dark vision. Giger’s work is actually fascinating and complicated. Really amazing things! He is still working, reportedly on designs for the upcoming prequel to Alien that nobody asked for. Here’s hoping it turns out to be halfway decent, either way I know I’ll be going to take a look. You may well have heard about H. R. Giger. He’s the design mastermind behind the actual intensely unique aesthetic from the iconic Alien business.

You may not, however, have heard that Giger was appparently snubbed through James Cameron who neglected, it seems, to have asked the eccentric artwork design genius (some would say), to rejoin the design crew on the believe it or not iconic follow up to Ridley Scott’s landmark sci-fi horror. Crucially, Aliens made large and repeated reference to the design concept laid down and executed so memorably by Giger in the first film.

“HR Giger Bar”, found at the actual HR Giger Art gallery in Gruy?res, Switzerland. HR Giger Bar is a cavernous, skeletal structure included in double arches associated with vertebrae that crisscross the vaulted ceiling of the ancient castle. The sensation of being in this remarkable setting recalls the actual tale of Jonah and the whale, lending the feel of being literally in the belly of a fossilized, prehistoric beast, or that you’ve been transported into the remains of a mutated future the world.
